Relining over existing tiles
Stripping old tiles is slow, noisy and expensive. In most pools it isn't needed at all. We install the new membrane straight over your existing tiles once the surface is prepared.
Why you don't need to strip the tiles
The membrane doesn't rely on the tiles to hold water. It forms its own continuous waterproof layer, so the old tiles simply become the base it sits on. Loose, broken or sharp areas are repaired first so the lining sits flat and smooth.

Pools we've lined over tiles
We've installed AquaForce membrane over existing tiled pools at Narromine 50 m council pool, Coonabarabran and Baradine council pools, and the Mansfield 50 m and toddlers pools, among others.
When tiles do need attention
If tiles are badly lifting, or there's movement or damage in the structure underneath, that needs to be dealt with first. We check this during the inspection and include any preparation in the quote, so there are no surprises.
Common questions
Will the tiles show through the membrane?
No. The surface is prepared first and the membrane is a thick reinforced sheet, so you get an even finish.
Does lining over tiles cost less than retiling?
In most cases, yes, because there's no tile removal, less preparation and a shorter closure. Every pool is different, so we price each one after an inspection.
Can you line over a painted or rendered pool?
Yes. The membrane can also go over painted, rendered or bare concrete once the surface is prepared.
